Is your body screaming, trying to tell you something?

Is your body screaming, trying to tell you something?

July 25, 2011

Often, our bodies are trying to tell us what our minds cannot.

Let’s say you’ve been super busy, crowding too much into every day, rushing, eating poorly.

Suddenly, you get sick. Your body is telling you, “Slow down, do less, take care of yourself.” A message you know, but aren’t listening to…until your body forces you to listen.

Or, you’ve grown up in a home where you were yelled at a lot, made to feel worthless or continually shamed. Later, you marry someone who repeats this pattern, and through the years, you develop a chronic illness which mirrors these defeating, pessimistic messages. Finally, your health gets so bad, you are unable to live life, so you grind to a stop.

In this state, you finally address your unhealthiness in the physical, emotional, and relational realms. Finally, your body has forced you to listen to what your mind would not access on its own. We are, after all, one entity, with physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual systems. But they are all interconnected, and when one is being neglected or abused, the others will shout to get our attention.

Think about your physical being right now. Is it manifesting any symptoms? Is there anything going on for you emotionally, spiritually, or mentally that you are ignoring or need to address?

Ask God for wisdom. I’m not saying that our physical problems are always a result of these underlying sources. But sometimes they are.

What is your body trying to tell you?
