Summer! YAY! 3 Months of ??

Summer! YAY! 3 Months of ??

How will you fill in the blank? When September 1 comes in 3 months, what will you be glad about?

I love the saying: “If you aim at nothing, that’s exactly what you’ll hit.”

Summer can be a time of change, of a break from the routine, of new freedoms but new challenges, of kids home from school needing things to do, of much-needed vacations.

But in the midst of the scramble, are there 1 or 2 things that you’d really like to see happen   during this period? Things like:

  • I want to maintain good nutrition in the midst of scurrying with kids and continual change.
  • I hope to have better communication and less conflict with my husband.
  • I’d love to read some good books and talk about them as a family.
  • The intensity of the year has left me frazzled… I need to carve out regular relaxation and a slower pace.

Most of us can think of a couple of things we need during the summer months, but which will not happen easily if we don’t identify them and make intentional efforts.

So take a minute now, and think of the 1 or 2 things you’ll be really glad to have done when September comes. Put them on a stickup note where you can see them, and think about simple ways you can incorporate these into your life. Don’t make your goals too difficult to attain… just baby steps that you can easily take in the right direction.

For me? Keeping up good nutrition is going to be a challenge amidst a lot of traveling and intensity. It helps me to buy organic spinach, salad greens, and shredded carrots, combine these with a little dressing, then bring this with me in a baggie when I leave in the morning to go to various meetings that fill my day. I find it easy to snack on these along my way, or combine them with other foods that I’m served… Like chicken, or even hamburgers! I know this might sound strange, but it works for me. Find what works for you.

Then…Ready, aim, pray! Pray that God will help you to accomplish these goals. Without His wind under our wings, we won’t get too far.

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us–yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17

Question: What is 1 thing you hope to be true for you this summer?
