Refill Your Reservoir And Keep It Full!

Refill Your Reservoir And Keep It Full!

March 8, 2012

You need sunshine for your bss: body, soul, and spirit. As I told you on my previous “Secret List of Fun” blog post (2/28/2012), we all need to consistently refuel ourselves through pleasurable and relaxing activities: these are like sunshine for our souls and spirits, making wilting flowers thrive.

When we relax or have fun, our brain physiology releases chemicals that help every part of our inner and outer being, which then overflows into everything we do.

Doesn’t it seem weird that I have to convince people to relax and have fun? I mean, it feels so good when we do this. But in our current lifestyles, we often fill our schedules to the brim with things that are productivity–oriented… Whether it’s our jobs, children, physical workouts, or even hobbies, these things often don’t have that quality of “kicking back and taking in the joy”…the quality that refills our reservoir in a unique way, keeping us healthy and overflowing, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

So today I’ll open my “treasure chest of secrets” a second time, and reveal my next 30 ideas for refilling your reservoir through fun and relaxation. I’ll give you the final third in a week or so.

And I’d love to hear your additions to this list! Remember, your goal is to choose 2 or 3 of these that you’ll do each week. Mix it up… pick different items from the smorgasbord over time. Variety keeps it from getting boring, which is crucial in the refueling process: our physical, spiritual, and emotional parts thrive with new and different things.

Fun Assignment: Read this list, and choose 2 items that you’ll do in the coming week to build up your reservoir. In doing this, you’re keeping your cup full, so that it can overflow. (You might also choose items from the previous list.)

P.S. Let me know which ones you choose and why in the comments section below, and if you have any new items to add to the list.
