Food and Mood: Five Food Links To Make You Happier!

Girl in group of fruit.Food and Mood…

I remember the day when I clearly realized that I was grabbing for a bag of potato chips to soothe my anxious feelings.

I’d been driving for an hour in anxiety – producing traffic near Los Angeles, and had merely stopped for gas, when I found myself nervously buying and downing a bag of Lays. For many, many years, I had been doing that soothing feelings with food without even making the mind/body connection.

Most of us grab mood-altering foods without realizing it, and for most of us, that means simple carbohydrates like potato chips, sweets, and other starchy foods.

However, even though these might give us a momentary mood boost, eventually they usually plunge us into greater tiredness, depression, or anxiety.

But it doesn’t have to be this way! There are foods that lift our souls, spirits, and bodies with no negative after-effects.

But really, these wiser food choices aren’t mainly a quick fix for difficult moods: consistently eating these can lead to a more continual happy, peaceful mind, according to many sources.

Below, I’ve included 5 helpful links to help you with wiser mood management through being aware of what you eat. And the great news is that, unlike simple carbs, these food choices have a positive impact on our bodies as well. And of course, a happy body = a happy mood = a happy you!
