About

Flourish!

Spirit, Body, & Mind.

I hope you’ll find this website to be a smorgasbord of resources for you spiritually, physically, and emotionally, a place of healthful offerings and enriching delights.  In whatever area you’re feeling stuck or wanting to make progress, I hope you’ll find things that equip, motivate, and nourish you on your journey toward an overflowing life.

It’s hard for most people to believe that in 2003, I was in a wheelchair, barely able to feed myself or brush my own teeth, depressed and hopeless. Today I’m living a vibrant, healthy life, enjoying endless possibilities, exercising an hour daily, emotionally and spiritually enriched.

My road back to health was difficult, with no map to follow. But I learned a great deal along the way about what people need to be healthy on every level, and ultimately, to thrive… about how our emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects are intertwined, affecting the totality of our being.

Because of my own journey and many mistakes, I’m passionate about helping others to find what they need to move toward the fullness of their potential, however low their starting point is.

Regarding my illness, I wrote Breaking Free to provide a roadmap for anyone struggling with a chronic illness. It tells my story, while guiding and coaching the reader to formulate his own personal map for improvement. It’s also a helpful resource for loved ones of the chronically ill person.

But beyond that, I’ve provided resources on this website — articles, links, blog entries, provisions, daily tweets — to help you to live an abundant, unfettered life… a flourishing life! You’ll find resources for your emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being, since the three are inextricably intertwined.

Please come back often for new tools and insights, and join a community of people striving to live abundantly and to overflow for the good of others.

About Mary

Let’s Connect

I’m passionate about helping people learn to enjoy a more enriched and meaningful life, as they work toward experiencing freedom from the things that hold them back.

My own path toward these goals has taken me all across America and around the globe, at first with my parents, and later following my own unique adventures.

I was born in Florida, and then moved with my dad, mom, and sister to Colorado, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Louisiana. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Texas, and then many years later, my master’s degree at Hope International University in Fullerton, California. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and currently divide my time between counseling, writing, and speaking.

My husband, John, and I have worked for more than 30 years with CRU, an international, non-profit Christian organization. In this capacity, we have lived and worked throughout New Zealand, Eastern Europe, Russia, and the United States. We have three grown children, and we happily call Austin, Texas our home.
